On Tuesday, the Jefferson County Quorum Court voted 12-1 to appropriate more than $230,000 to the adult jail for operations, with a large portion of those funds to be used for food and medical supplies. After the vote, Sheriff Lafayette Woods Jr. was critical of the way it was done.

On Thursday, 1013 morning show host Greg Horne asked Woods his thoughts about the issue.

Woods then went on to say this.

Woods said the most recent request (for the $230,000) was submitted in August before the September Quorum Court meeting so there was no need for the special meeting to say he works with me. (The issue) would have been addressed then but it was not addressed until the special meeting was called)
