A Crossett woman died after her vehicle struck a traffic sign and a tree in Crossett Monday afternoon, according to an Arkansas State Police preliminary accident report.
Mary Dell Jones, 60, of Crossett was traveling south in the northbound lane of the 1000 block of Main Street in Crossett Monday afternoon when the 2011 Kia Sorento she was driving struck a no-parking sign on the west side of the road before traveling about 25 feet and hit a tree, according to the accident narrative in the police report.
Jones was transported to Ashley County Medical Center where she died.
The accident occurred on January 13 at 3:45 p.m. The weather was cloudy and the roadway was dry at the time of the accident. At least 14 people have died as a result of accidents on Arkansas roads this year, according to preliminary figures.
