A Pine Bluff woman was arrested Wednesday after she allegedly threatened her boyfriend with a knife.

Laresha Johnson, 37, was taken into custody after police were sent to 1700 W. 8th Ave. in response to a reported armed disturbance.

During a court hearing Friday, Deputy Prosecutor Jay Gerard said the alleged victim told police his girlfriend threatened to kill him with a knife and began slapping him in the face with an open hand.

The alleged victim said the altercation started when he asked Johnson to stop drinking.

Gerard said Johnson was not initially interviewed because she was intoxicated.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney released Johnson on her own recognizance after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge her with aggravated assault on a family or household member.

Johnson was ordered to have no contact with the victim until the case is settled.
