Pine Bluff native William Fells cruised to victory Tuesday night, defeating political newcomer Colton Edwards as the two battled for the Third Ward seat on the Pine Bluff City Council.
With 31 of 36 precincts reporting, Fells received 2,371 votes to 642 for Edwards.
A graduate of American University, Fells worked for Mayor Shirley Washington for several years before leaving to run for the council seat.
Fells was asked about that, specifically did he think that he had an advantage because of the name recognition.
After winning the top spot in the Democratic primary, Fells won the run-off and beat incumbent Glen Brown Sr. before facing Edwards, who ran as an independent, in the general election.
He talked to Deltaplex News about the campaigns.
