UPDATE SUNDAY, MARCH 22, 9:35 A.M.:
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has booked 70-year-old Ella Simmons into the W.C. “Dub” Brassell Detention Center at 1:24 a.m. on charges of First Degree Murder, pending a court appearance, in the shooting death of her husband, 69-year-old Robert Simmons.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is working a homicide in the 10200 block of Princeton Pike.
69-year-old Robert Simmons was shot and killed by his wife according to deputies. The wife has not been named at this time. Simmons was pronounced deceased at 7:55 p.m. by Deputy Coroner April Davis.
