Pine Bluff City Council member Ivan Whitfield on Wednesday was asked about the council, and the perception from some in the community that it is a “do-nothing council.”
He said that every ward has its own needs and concerns. “We feel like the council was elected by the people so we should have a voice. That’s one of the things we’re dealing with on the $16 million that’s coming to Pine Bluff,” Whitfield said.
Regarding being elected by the people, Whitfield was asked if those elections were actually a “popularity contest.”
