The superintendent of schools for the White Hall School District said Thursday his district has had only eight cases of COVID-19 this school year with seven of them involving students and the eighth a teacher.

Doug Dorris was interviewed on the Oldies 101.3 morning show.

Dorris said the district has 2,800 students and said school officials and others are asking parents of students who are sent home and are quarantined to ensure that the students stay home.

He said that the district is making sue that the students who are sent home and quarantined have access to an I-Pad or Chromebook so they can continue to learn online. Dorris said all the classes are offered on Zoom and are required so if a student misses one, they’re considered absent.

The district will enter its third week of Flex Programming Friday at the high school, a program Dorris said allows students who are having trouble in a class to get extra help from teachers and went on to say that the program has been successful.
