White Hall standout student-athlete killed in Thursday night shooting

A White Hall student has been killed in an overnight shooting according to family members of the student.

The victim has been identified as Benjamin Redix. Redix’s identification was confirmed by his mother to Deltaplex News Friday morning.

According to the North Little Rock Police Department on Thursday at around 11:08 p.m., officers responded to the 5800 block of Lynch Drive in reference to a subject who had been shot.

Once officers arrived they found Redix lying in the road suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Pulaski County Coroner’s Office.

Police have arrested 17-year-old Jimari Douglas in connection with the shooting. Douglas is being held on no bond and is being charged as an adult on one count of manslaughter.

Redix was scheduled to graduate from White Hall High School on Friday night before he was tragically killed on Thursday night. He was a standout football player and track athlete for the White Hall Bulldogs.

He was named Kevin Bonnette State Farm Player of the Game in October following a standout performance in a win over Morrilton.

Redix, a standout athlete in multiple sports, had signed a National Letter of Intent for a scholarship to run track for Southern Arkansas University.
