During its meeting Tuesday, the White Hall School District Board approved a $200 bonus for each full- and part-time employee that provides proof of being vaccinated for COVID-19.

The board’s action followed an announcement by Governor Asa Hutchinson that state employees who choose to be vaccinated could receive the same amount.

The bonuses for White Hall School employees will be retroactive for those who received the vaccine during the district’s COVID-19 vaccination clinic in February. If an employee received their vaccination at another time or location, they need to bring their vaccination card to the district for verification in order to receive the bonus.

The board also approved a request to approve a free day for students 12-years of age or older who receive their COVID-19 vaccination if they bring their card to the district to prove eligibility. This would be retroactive to any student who received their vaccination during the 2020-2021 school year.

Students will not be able to use the free day during any Aspire testing or semester test days. The school’s office must be notified 24 hours in advance when a student is using their free day or by 9 a.m. if the student is sick ands wants to use their free day instead of a sick day.

A memo from Superintendent Doug Dorris to the board said Jefferson Regional Hospital will be conducting another COVID vaccination clinic for employees and students 12 and older who missed the first clinic in February. The clinic will be July 22 from 1 to 4 p.m. for the first shot and Aug. 12 from 2 to 5 p.m. for the second shot.
