Cases of COVID-19 continue to increase in Arkansas and school districts in Pine Bluff and Jefferson County have seen increases as well.

On the Oldies 101.3 morning show Thursday, White Hall School District Superintendent Doug Dorris talked discussed what’s happening in his district.

Dorris said when a teacher in the district reports that they are going to get a test for COVID-19, they are placed in quarantine immediately until the results of the test come back and If the test is positive, that teacher is off for 14 days. He went on to say that so far, the district has been able to use substitutes for most of the teachers who have had to quarantine but there have been a few instances when it was necessary to combine classes if a substitute was not available.

He also explained a new program that begins Friday which he called a “Pivot Day” or “Flex Day.”
