WEEVILS TAKE DOWN THE STORM IN GAME 3 TO WIN THE SERIES

BETHANY, Okla. – The Arkansas-Monticello baseball team took down Southern Nazarene University in Game 3 of their three game, GAC series. The Weevils put up 8 runs compared to the Storm’s 2 runs, taking the win in the final game of the series. UAM would take a 2-1 win over SNU on the series.

UAM was the first team on the board as Reece Reading touched home in the second inning off a David Reyna fly ball. The Crimson storm put a run in the bottom of the inning to tie the score at 1-1.

The Monticello boys were far from finished as they would score 2 more runs in the third inning. Both Chase Cripps and Cade Thompson both scored on a Jordan Johnson single through the right side.

Southern Nazarene scored a run in the sixth, but the Weevils would add 5 more runs to their lead over the last 3 innings of the game. Jordan Johnson singled up the middle to score both BJ Lee and Chase Cripps in the 7th. David Reyna scored on a BJ Lee ground ball in the eighth. Jordan Johnson scored on a Reece Reading triple to center field and Reading scored on a Nick Fakouri single to right field for the final runs of the game.

Pitching Performances
Mason Philley started on the mound, totaling 8.0 innings pitched with only 2 runs scored on 3 hits allowed. He stuck out 9 batters and had 4 walks.
Trent Bunting closed out the last 1.0 inning of the game for the Weevils with no runs allowed and no hits.

Arkansas-Monticello would win the game 8-2, increasing their record to 18-20, with a GAC record of 13-14.
