Watson Chapel senior ATH Kris Richardson has been named the Week Four Kevin Bonnette State Farm Jefferson County Player of the Week.

Richardson recorded 11 tackles, an interception, had a big kickoff return to open the second half, and scored a touchdown for the Wildcats in a win over Camden-Fairview Friday night.

He gave his thoughts on what it means to him to be named Player of the Week.

“I’m grateful for it,” said Richardson. “I just want to keep going at it and keep playing my role to help my team, and let God lead me.”

Richardson said he feels like the Wildcats have a chance to compete for a state title this year.

“I feel like we can go far if we keep our head and intensity up,” said Richardson. “We have to keep playing our game and don’t let anybody distract us.”

The Wildcats will host Pulaski Academy Friday night. Richardson gave his thoughts on what it will take to earn a victory.

“We just have to go at a fast pace,” said Richardson. “They are a smart team, so we have to play smart as well. They are going to make big plays, so we just have to have a short-term memory and go out and keep playing.”
