The Watson Chapel School Board held a special called meeting Tuesday night to interview an interim Superintendent candidate following last week’s meeting in which the board voted to fire Dr. Andrew Curry

The meeting, which immediately went into executive session, lasted just under two hours. At the completion of the meeting the board voted to open up the hiring process for a full-time Superintendent. However, the candidate interviewed was not voted on as an option for interim Superintendent.

School board President Sandra Boone did acknowledge that a candidate was interviewed.

Boone said that the board wants to be “more careful” about hiring a candidate than they were before.

Boone also said that it is possible that whoever is named interim could end up being the full-time Superintendent.

She also said what the board is looking for in a candidate.

Boone also said “gossipers and naysayers” are spreading false information about the district being taken over by the State of Arkansas.
