The Watson Chapel School District has started a new program with a goal of matching up members of the community with students in the district.

Watson Chapel School District Superintendent Andrew Curry was a guest on the Oldies 101.3 morning show Friday and talked about the program, Father Figure Friday.

Curry explained that the ultimate goal of the program is to try and form a mentoring relationship between the students and people who volunteer to be a part of the program. He said the district is doing all the things they have to do, including background checks for those who volunteer.

The program initially will involve the junior high and senior high but Curry said the long range plan is to include every school, right down to the elementary level. One session has already been held and Curry talked about the results.

Curry was also asked about another program he is trying to implement.
