The Watson Chapel School District met for their monthly meeting, Monday, December 13th, and discussed a lengthy agenda and a couple of recognitions and award presentations for staff and students. 

Presented by LaDonna Spain, the district’s Assistant Superintendent, recognized the district’s Wildcat Warrior for the month with a standing ovation for Joe Page IV who is a first-grader at Edgewood Elementary. Shequita Nance who is also a teacher at Edgewood Elementary, and Becky Huffman is a paraprofessional who was recognized as the educators of the month. 

The board also approved several new hires for the district including a new head football coach and baseball coach. Maurice Moody was named as the Head Football Coach and Curry spoke to the board about that.

Jared Dutton who was not present at the meeting was named the head baseball coach among others that were hired include new middle and high school band directors Samuel Turner and LeManuel William, who are both graduates of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. 

The items on the agenda included a Request For Proposal for foodservice bids for potential consultants in which the board received presentations from Taher, K-12 Culinary, and School Eats during last month’s meeting. The board discussed and voted without contest to hire School Eats in an effort to work with the district for six months to improve their foodservice operations for students.
