Metallica‘s James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett performed the national anthem before Monday night’s NBA game between the Golden State Warriors and the Los Angeles Lakers.

The pair called in virtually to play their shred-heavy, instrumental version of “The Star-Spangled Banner” alongside two amps decorated with the Warriors logo and the team’s “Strength in Numbers” slogan. You can watch the performance streaming now on YouTube.

While Monday’s game got off to a rocking start, Steph Curry and the Warriors fell to LeBron James‘ Lakers 128-97.

Hetfield and Hammett have played their version of the national anthem several times before for their hometown Warriors, including during the team’s run of Finals appearances in the 2010s. They’ve also performed it for a number of other Bay Area sports teams, including the San Francisco Giants baseball and San Jose Sharks hockey teams.
