Venus Williams is one of 9 female athletes being honored with special dolls as part of a project announced yesterday by Mattel.
The tennis star will be joined by gymnasts, soccer players, a boxer, a swimmer, a paratriathlete and a sprinter.
For her part, Williams said “throughout my career, I’ve always been driven by the idea of shattering the glass ceilings and staying true to myself, and Barbie’s mission couldn’t resonate more deeply with that ethos.”
