UAPB WOMEN’S HOOPS: Golden Lions Fall to Florida A&M
TALLAHASSEE, FL —The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff women’s basketball team got a 17-point showing from the bench, but fell 84-50 to the Florida A&M Rattlers on the road Saturday.
The Golden Lions had two players score in double figures, led by D’Arrah Allen, who had 11 points. Kristyna Boyd tacked on 10 points and Empress Roberts added seven points and six steals.
UAPB forced 25 Florida A&M turnovers while committing 24 themselves in Saturday’s game. The Golden Lions turned those takeaways into 18 points on the offensive end of the floor. Roberts’ six steals led the way for UAPB.
How It Happened
UAPB struggled out of the gate, falling behind 21-9 at the end of the first quarter.
The Golden Lions continued to lose ground in the second quarter and faced a 43-20 halftime deficit.
UAPB’s deficit continued to grow after halftime, and the Golden Lions faced a 62-32 disadvantage heading to the fourth quarter. UAPB played well near the basket, scoring eight of its 12 points in the paint.
UAPB could not pull any closer in the fourth, losing by a final of 84-50. UAPB took advantage of its opportunities in the post, scoring 10 of its 18 points in the paint.
