UAPB Women’s Hoop Lady Lions Drops Heartbreaker On The Road To Alabama A&M

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Zaay Green secured a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds, but the UAPB women’s basketball team fell to the Alabama A&M Bulldogs 56-50 on the road Monday.

The Lady Lions had two players score in double figures, led by Green, who notched a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Sade Hudson added 11 points off of the bench.

UAPB’s defense held Alabama A&M to only 38.3 percent shooting from the field.

How It Happened

UAPB struggled out of the gate, falling behind 22-12 at the end of the first quarter.

Alabama A&M kept adding to that lead, building a 26-15 advantage before UAPB went on a 7-0 run to narrow its deficit to 26-22. The Lady Lions continued to chip away, reducing the Alabama A&M lead to 33-31 heading into the break.

UAPB’s deficit continued to grow after halftime, and the Lady Lions faced a 46-40 disadvantage heading to the fourth quarter. UAPB played well near the basket, scoring six of its nine points in the paint.

UAPB could not pull any closer in the fourth, losing by a final of 56-50.

The Lady Lions return to the H.O. Clemmons Arena Saturday, February 19th, when they will host Prairie View A&M. Tip-off is scheduled for 3p.m. and will be broadcast live on the UAPB Sports Network on 99.3fm The Beat.
