UAPB Women Hoops & Dawn Thornton Basketball Camps Announced For Summer 2023

PINE BLUFF, AR.- The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Women’s Basketball coaching staff has released a schedule of summer camp offerings.

Five camp options are available including a Skillz & Drillz June 3 – Elite Team Camp –  June 15-16 – Team Camp – June 24-  Little Lions – June 30 – and a FREE Experience 2.0 Camp open to the community August 5.

Team Camp is for High School/AAU teams (grades 9-12), with an option to attend One-Day Shootout or the Two-Day Shootout. Cost for one-day is $175 and two-day is $225 per team. Cost includes lunch and a camp t-shirt. Campers should bring basketball shoes, game jerseys, and any other paraphernalia to compete in games.

Skillz & Drillz Camp is for players grades 5 through 12. This day camp is a basketball instructional camp designed to teach technique and the detailed points of fundamental play. This camp, which runs from 9 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., will provide fundamental basketball skill instruction in all aspects of play, giving the coaches an opportunity to scout and recruit talent. Cost is $75. Please bring basketball shoes and any other paraphernalia to compete in drills. Walk-up registration is welcomed!

Looking for a fun and engaging basketball program for your little one? Look no further than D Thornton Hoopz Little Lions Camp! This camp uses a variety of fun games and activities to help future lions develop fundamentals, movement, and basketball skills. With a focus on confidence building, skill development, participation, teamwork, and hand/eye coordination, your child will be introduced to beginner basketball fundamentals such as dribbling, passing, and shooting in a supportive and exciting environment. This camp, which runs from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Cost is $50 per camper – Cost includes lunch. Please bring running or basketball shoes.

Elite Camp is for High School/AAU players (grades 9-12). This invite only camp is a basketball instructional camp designed to teach technique and the detailed points of basketball – dribbling, shooting, passing, rebounding, defense, and team play – while emphasizing the importance of hard work, a positive attitude, and sportsmanship. We want our campers to have a GREAT time while also becoming better players and better people during their time with us. Registration starts at 8:00 a.m. and the camps runs from 9 a.m. – 4: p.m. Cost of prospect camp is $90. Cost includes camp t-shirt and lunch. Campers should bring basketball shoes and any other paraphernalia needed to compete in drills and games. Walk-up registration is welcomed!

Experience 2.0 Camp is a FREE CAMP, that is open to the entire community of Pine Bluff. Coach Dawn Thornton and her staff will use this camp to interact and give back to the community of Pine Bluff for their support and continued support throughout the season.
