UAPB Women Hoops Completes Roster With Two Additions

Women

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff women’s basketball team completed its roster for the 2021-22 season recently with head coach Dawn Thornton adding a talented recruiting class, guard Bryana Langford forward Shekinah Rachel.

Bryana Lanford • G • 5-9 • Baton Rouge, La. • Southeastern Louisiana

Thornton adds talented Brayana Langford as 4th transfer to the roster.

“The Best is the Standard.”

“I think we’ve got a good mix in our front court and back court,” said Thornton. “The fact that we are able to add another piece to our women’s basketball program this summer with signing Bryana Langford, transfer from Southeastern Louisiana is the icing on the cake.”

I had an opportunity to watch Bre years ago when she was at Jones Community College, and I was immediately blown away by how hard she consistently works. “She’s just different, and being able to work her out this summer, showed me how special she really is. She is ultra-competitive, and her passion for the game is unmatched. Her mid-range jump shot reminds me a lot like Chris Paul and her ability to crash the boards is what we need from a big guard.”

Shekinah Rachel • F • 6-2 • Miami, Fl. • Jacksonville University

Thornton announced the 5th transfer addition to the roster, Shekinah Rachel.

Rachel appeared in 18 games and recorded 95 rebounds last season, second-most on the team as a sophomore.

“I am able to go to sleep at night knowing that when we need a rebound, Shekinah will come up with the ball. She is relentless and will stop at nothing to get the job done.”

“Shekinah is an athletic post player with the skill set and versatility to play multiple positions here at UAPB. She’s an extremely hard worker who is dedicated to improving her game. Our coaching staff was impressed by her talent and competitive spirit that she brings and feels that Shekinah has a very bright future in basketball.”
