UAPB Volleyball Sweeps Philander Smith in Exhibition Match
Pine Bluff, AR– Head Coach Gabrielle Floyd and the UAPB Lady Lions volleyball team swept Philander Smith University 3-0 (25-19, 25-9, 25-18) in an exhibition match Saturday at the H.O. Clemmons Arena.
“I think we got challenged, Philander didn’t let us get anything, they were relentless on defense.” said Head Coach Gabrielle Floyd. The Lady Lions have a full roster this year with the addition of several transfer student-athletes and incoming freshmen. “…at the end of the day, I think that was really good to help us grow and see what areas we need to continue to work.”
The Lady Lions will open the season next weekend, with back to back road trips starting at Jacksonville State Aug. 30th-31st in the Gamecock Classic, before traveling to UT-Martin for the Skyhawk Classic on Sep. 6th-7th.
UAPB will face Oral Roberts on Sep. 10th for the season home opener before traveling to Memphis, Tennessee for the Bluff City Showdown Sep. 12th-13th, coinciding with the Southern Heritage Football Classic to be held Sept. 14th at Simmons Bank Liberty Bowl Stadium.
