UAPB Volleyball: Lady Lions Rack Up 11 Blocks in 3-0 victory over Alcorn State on Senior Night
PINE BLUFF, AR — The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff volleyball team totaled 11 blocks en route to a 3-0 sweep (25-14, 25-23, 25-22) against the Alcorn State Lady Braves Monday at home at HO Clemmons Arena.
Marlina Anderson finished with 11 kills on the day to lead the Lady Lions attack while finishing with a hitting percentage of .45. UAPB got 8 digs from Haley Reeves along with five blocks from Amayah Jones and five rejections from Laila Fortson to lead them defensively.

SET 1 | The Lady Lions seized an early lead, handily winning the first set 25-14. UAPB never trailed by more than five points and grabbed the advantage for good at 8-7 in a set that had just one lead change before the Lady Lions took over the lead. UAPB also supplemented their offense with four aces in the opening set.
SET 2 | UAPB won set two 25-23 to swiftly grab a 2-0 lead. The Lady Lions survived a back-and-forth set to win in a stanza that featured four lead changes and was tied eight times. Neither team led by more than three points along the way. The UAPB offense also got a boost from three aces in the stanza. UAPB’s front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking four Alcorn State attacks in the stanza.
SET 3 | UAPB then sealed the sweep with a victory in set number three. The Lady Lions the set set three 25-22. UAPB took the lead for good at 20-19 in a set that showcased four lead changes before the Lady Lions took over in the second half of the stanza. UAPB’s front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking six Alcorn State attacks in the stanza.
