UAPB VOLLEYBALL Drop Two in Razorback Invitational

The Lady Lions fell in two games on Saturday afternoon in the Razorback Invitational.

UAPB loss to Little Rock 3-0 (25-13, 25-16, 25-13) and Louisiana Tech 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-17).

Zykia Jones led the Lady Lions in kills for the second straight game against Little Rock with eight kills. Zyonn Smith added five kills along with six digs.

Nyah Ellis led the team in digs with 12. Leading in assists was Nikole Akamine with nine while adding six digs.

In the game against Louisiana Tech, Freshman Jayden James had an impressive ten kills to lead the Lady Lions.

Vanessa Collins had 14 assists to lead UAPB. Breana August tallied a team-high eight digs and Kaila Robinson added seven digs.

The Lady Lions combined for 54 kills through both games.

UAPB will return to action Friday, Sep. 3rd in St. Louis, Missouri for the Billiken Invitational.

UAPB VOLLEYBALL FALLS TO ARKANSAS IN SEASON OPENER

FAYETTEVILLE, Ar. – Freshman Zykia Jones led the Lady Lions with seven kills in a losing effort to Arkansas 3-0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-11) Friday night at the Razorback Invitational.

Nikole Akamine tallied a team-high eight assists to go with five digs. Vanessa Collins added six assists to help the Lady Lions.

Kaila Robinson added five digs to go with three kills.

The team totaled 20 kills in the game.

UAPB continues their play Saturday, Aug. 28th at noon against Little Rock. Following that game, the Lady Lions will match up against Louisiana Tech at 5 p.m.
