UAPB Volleyball Akamine Named To SWAC Preseason Team

PINE BLUFF, AR – Nikole Akamine was named preseason second-team setter, which is her second consecutive year being named to the All-SWAC Team. Akamine played a significant role in helping UAPB rank in the top four in 10 categories in the SWAC Conference in 2021.

Akamine led the team in assists (508), led in service aces (38), and third in digs (204). The All-SWAC finished seventh in the conference in service aces (.38 avg/s). Akamine had season-high 26 assists against Grambling St.

The Lady Lions are set to kick off the 2022 season on Aug. 26 when they travel to Southeast Missouri State for tournament play, before opening up at home on Aug. 29 against Arkansas Tech.
