UAPB Student-Athletes Continues To Win In The Classroom

PINE BLUFF, AR. – The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff athletics had another stellar semester in the classroom this past spring, registering a 3.02 GPA and a 3.12 cum GPA.

The Golden Lions had 13 student-athletes post a perfect 4.0 GPA for the year and a total of 145 student-athletes (49.0%) earned a 3.0 or better. UAPB athletics stands as one of the top departments in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC), with an 84% graduation success rate (GSR).

This is the sixth straight semester the athletic department finished with a 3.0 or better.

Eleven of UAPB’s 14 teams earned GPAs above 3.0, with the women’s cross country setting the pace with a GPA of (3.9), followed by women’s track & field (3.481), women’s soccer (3.4), volleyball (3.25), softball (3.22), and women’s basketball (2.88).

On the men’s side, golf led the way with a GPA of (3.639). Men’s cross country finished with a (3.4), followed by men’s track & field (3.229), baseball (3.184), football (2.91), and men’s basketball (2.79).

Likewise, we continue to be very appreciative of the tremendous roles that our outstanding academic staff is doing, as well as our coaches and donors play in overall equations.”

APR Success

  • The NCAA released its Academic Progress Rate report, showing that all 14 UAPB teams surpassed the NCAA cut score. Men’s Golf had a perfect score of 1,000
  • Out of 300 student-athletes, the Golden Lions had 187 named to the SWAC All-Academic Team.
