UAPB Softball Walk-Off in Series Opener Against Southern 3-2

PINE BLUFF, Arkansas – UAPB limited the Southern Lady Jaguars to two runs on Sunday, and the Lady Lions lineup did the rest, pushing just enough runners across to eke out the 3-2 victory.

Sydney Green got the win for UAPB. The right-hander went nine innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on seven hits, allowing six walks and striking out seven.

In the batter’s box, the Lady Lions were led by Samaria Jackson, who went 2-for-3 on the day with a home run and an RBI. Belyeu furnished a standout performance at the dish as well, going 1-for-3 with an RBI. Ariana Gonzalez also contributed for UAPB, putting together one hit in four trips to the plate while adding a double.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Lady Lions were trailing 2-0 in the sixth inning when they first put runs on the board. Jackson put UAPB on the board with a two-out solo home run.

The Lady Lions kept the deficit at 2-1 before tying the score in the seventh. Sierra Johnson came across to score the lone run of the inning for UAPB, which evened the score at 2-2.

The game remained tied until the bottom of the ninth, when UAPB walked it off on an RBI single off the bat of Belyeu.
