UAPB Softball Split Midweek Doubleheader

Pine Bluff, Ark.– The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff softball team split its midweek doubleheader against Texas A&M Texarkana Lady Eagles Tuesday, dropping game one 6-3, and winning game two 9-0.

Game One
Texas A&M Texarkana 6  UAPB 3 : The Lady Lions tied the game in the bottom of the fifth inning but couldn’t take the lead  in the game one loss.

The Lady Lions were down 3-0 in the fifth inning, before rolling off with two straight singles before the senior Kari’s Hall came up with a two-run double, scoring Desiree Bumpers and Ann Jones.

Shanice Akins would double to left field, scoring Hall to tie the game at 3-3.  However, the Lady Eagles would respond with three runs to clinch game one.

Hall led the Lady Lions at the plate going 3-of-4 with two RBI, followed by Akins going 1-of-3 with one RBI.

Game Two
UAPB 9  Texas A&M Texarkana 0:  UAPB put up six runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to run rule to run rule TAMU-T in game two.

The Golden Lion offense posted one run in the first inning, two in the second inning and six in the fourth inning and tallied 11 hits in game two.  Lady Lions enjoyed multi-hit performances, as Akins, Jones, Taylor and Bumpers each had two hits.

Hall threw a complete game, giving up two hits and no runs with four strikeouts.

UAPB will be back on the diamond Friday as they head to Grambling, LA. To face the Lady Tigers in a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 pm.
