UAPB Softball Drops Non-Conference Match At Home Against UT-Martin

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff softball team dropped a pair of games in their home opener doubleheader at the Torii Hunter Softball complex against the University of Tennessee-Martin Tuesday afternoon. The Lady Lions dropped game one 14-0 and 9-0 in game two.

Game 1: UTM 14 UAPB 0

UT- Martin raced 4-0 as both teams went scoreless in the fifth inning before the Skyhawks added 10 runs in the top of the sixth inning to claim game one. 

Senior Anne Gerwitz and junior Felicia Drake led UAPB at the plate with one hit apiece.

Game 2: UTM 9 UAPB 

In the second game of the doubleheader, neither team was able to get on the board until the fourth inning, when UT-Martin jumped out to an 8-0 lead, before adding a run in the top of the fifth inning to clinch the series. 

 Sophomore Samaria Jackson led UAPB at the plate, going 1-for-2. 

The Lady Lions will be back in action for their first conference three-game series on the road against Alcorn State on Friday, March 19 in Lorman, Mississippi.
