UAPB Soccer Offensive Scoring Leads Lady Lions Over Texas Southern

PINE BLUFF, — The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff women’s soccer team got a pair of goals from Iyanah Hicks in a 5-1 victory over Texas Southern Sunday (Oct. 2) at home at Pumphrey Soccer Complex.

The victory improved Lady Lions record to 8-7-0 overall and 3-1-0 in SWAC play. With this weekend sweep over Prairie View A&M and Texas Southern, the Lady Lions climbed up the top-three in the conference standings.
How it Happened

UAPB grabbed a 1-0 lead when Natalie Freeman scored her ninth goal of the season in the ninth minute, assisted by Alexia Dugan.

The Lady Lions extended their lead to 2-0 on a goal from Hicks — her fourth goal of the season — in the 33rd minute, assisted by Freeman.

The Lady Lions’ went ahead 3-0 on Hicks’ 42nd-minute goal, her fourth of the season.

The Lady Tigers got on the scoreboard with a 64th-minute goal from Hayley Vaughan.

UAPB increased its advantage to make it a 4-1 game on Dugan’s first goal of the season in the 73rd minute, assisted by Hicks.

The Lady Lions’ advantage grew to 5-1 thanks to an 86th-minute goal from Freeman, her ninth goal of the season. Cameron Rodriguez assisted the goal. The score was the last of the game.
