UAPB Soccer Lands Three On SWAC Preseason All-Conference

Pine Bluff, AR. – The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff women’s soccer team has three student-athletes named to the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) All-Conference teams announced by the league Wednesday morning.  Freshman Iyannah Hicks leads the charge for the Lady Lions as the lone first-team.

Junior Cameron Rodriguez and sophomore Evangelia Sandoval-Belmudez earned second-team honors.

Hicks finished the spring 2020-21 season ranked in the top four in five of the six categories in the SWAC Conference. Hicks finished in the SWAC in first place in shots per game with a total of 39, averaging 4.33 per game, second in shots on goal with a total of 20, averaging 2.22 per game, second in goals with a total of six, second in points, with a total of 14 points, and fourth in game-winning goals with two.

Hicks was named player of the week once and had a season-high 11 shots against Jarvis Christian and two goals against Mississippi of Women.

Rodriguez started in all matches, recorded 853 minutes of playing time. Rodriguez took five shots for the season, with two shots on goal and one assist.

Rodriguez finished with a season-high two shots and two shots on goal.

Sophomore Sandoval-Belmudez returns on the All-Conference preseason team after being named in the spring of 2020-21.

Sandoval-Belmudez finished tied for 15th in the conference with two goals. Sandoval-Belmudez played 826 minutes, starting in all 11 games for the Lady Lions, tallied up one assist, seven shots, and five-shot on goals to go along with her two goals
