The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff men’s basketball team fell to the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils 74-71 at home Saturday in the final game of the season for both teams.

The Golden Lions  had three players score in double figures, led by Terrance Banyard, who had 24 points and six rebounds. Markedric Bell tacked on 19 points and two steals off of the bench and Marquell Carter chipped in as well a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds.

Seniors Carter, along with Isaac Bassey, Khalid Campbell, Marquell Carter, and Artavious McDyessJordan McNair and Marcus Wallace were honored prior to tipoff.

UAPB’s defense held Mississippi Valley State to only 29.6% shooting from beyond the arc.

After falling behind 5-0, UAPB went on a 6-0 run with 15:32 left in the first half to take a 6-5 lead. The Golden Lions then surrendered that lead and entered halftime down 31-25.

Trailing in the second half, the Golden Lions battle back to take a 69-68 lead on a Carter jumper with 1:37 remaining, ending an 11-0 run. The teams battled down the stretch of the contest and, tied at 71-all, Valley made a three pointer with two seconds remaining.
