UAPB MEN’S HOOPS: Golden Lions Fall to Tulsa

TULSA, OK —The University of Arkansas Pine Bluff men’s basketball team got a 29-point performance from the bench, but fell 103-80 to the Tulsa Golden Hurricane on the road Saturday.

The Golden had four players score in double figures, led by Dante Sawyer, who had 15 points. Zach Reinhart added 15 points and four assists and Christian Moore helped out with 11 points and three steals.

The UAPB offense was very productive from downtown, knocking down 10 threes on 29 attempts. Caleb Jones was the most prolific shooter for the Golden Lions, draining three treys in the contest.

UAPB struggled out of the gate, falling behind 52-36 heading into halftime.

Tulsa kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 71-45 advantage before UAPB went on a 7-0 run to shrink the deficit to 71-52 with 12:39 to go in the contest. Tulsa responded and outscored the Golden Lions the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 103-80. UAPB got a boost from its bench in the period, as non-starters accounted for 16 of its 44 total points.
