JACKSON, Miss. – The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff men’s basketball team lost at Jackson State 64-58 in overtime Monday night.

The Golden Lions (3-20, 2-12 SWAC) had two players score in double figures, led by Dequan Morris, who had 12 points. Terrance Banyard added 10 points and Markedric Bell added nine points.

After a basket by Joshuwan Johnson tied the game at 56-56 with 42 seconds remaining, both teams missed opportunities to win it in regulation. UAPB had a chance to win in, but the shot would not fall with four seconds to play before JSU missed a long three pointer as time expired.

There were 12 ties and 12 lead changes in the game. The UAPB defense caused its share of mistakes in Monday’s game, forcing 15 Jackson State turnovers and forced JSU to shoot just 4 of 24 from three-point range.

After falling behind 6-2, UAPB went on a 6-0 run with 15:17 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Shaun Doss Jr., to take an 8-6 lead. The Golden Lions then surrendered that lead and entered halftime down 31-24.

Jackson State kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 33-25 advantage before UAPB went on an 8-0 run, finished off by Jalen Lynn’s three, to even the score at 33 all with 15:30 to go in the contest. Neither team led by more than two possessions for the remainder of the game.
