UAPB Men Hoops Falls At Prairie View A&M

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff men’s basketball team lost at Prairie View A&M 72-56 Tuesday night.

The Golden Lions (3-18, 2-10 SWAC) had two players score in double figures, led by Nicholas Jones, who had 11 points and four assists off the bench, followed by Markedrick Bell with 10 points and nine rebounds. Shaun Doss Jr. added eight points, seven rebounds and two blocks.

UAPB fell behind 21-4 early, but battle back to cut the margin to single digits before heading to the halftime locker room down 35-24.

In the second half, the teams traded baskets in the opening minute before two free throws and later a dunk by Bell cut the deficit to 37-30 with just under 18 minutes remaining.

However, Bell was called for the technical foul in the aftermath of the dunk which sparked a run by the Prairie View A&M to put the Panther back in control of the game.

The Golden Lions return to action Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Texas Southern in game two of a doubleheader with the UAPB women. The UAPB Sports Network broadcast begins at 5:15 p.m. on 99.3 FM The Beat.
