UAPB Men Hoops Drop Road Game Against Alabama State

Montgomery, Alabama —The UAPB men’s basketball team got a 33-point showing from the bench, but fell 80-66 to the Alabama State Hornets on the road Wednesday.

The Golden Lions had three players score in double figures, led by Kylen Milton, who had 19 points and six rebounds. Brahm Harris added 14 points and seven rebounds off the bench and Shaun Doss Jr. helped out with 12 points, seven rebounds and four assists.

The Golden Lions offense was very productive from beyond the arc, knocking down 10 threes on 29 attempts. Milton was the most prolific shooter for the Golden Lions, draining four treys in the contest.

How It Happened

After falling behind 19-14, UAPB went on a 5-0 run with 9:49 left in the first half, culminating in a three from Milton, to tie the game at 19. Alabama State then pulled ahead, sending the Golden Lions into halftime down 37-36.

Alabama State kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 49-41 advantage before UAPB went on a 9-0 run, finished off by Harris’ jumper, to seize a 50-49 lead with 13:25 to go in the contest. Alabama State re-asserted control, outscoring the Golden Lions 31-16 the rest of the way to hand UAPB the 80-66 loss. UAPB shot well from three-point range in the half, hitting five shots from deep to score 15 of its 30 points.
