The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) announced Tuesday that they will be adding to the historical campus with the next phase in planning for the construction of the Golden Lion Track and Soccer Complex. They explained that the facility will be a multi-use complex that has been in the planning phase to help expand the competitiveness of UAPB athletics as they continue to excel on a national stage.

The University announced that the new Golden Lion Track and Soccer Complex will be a state-of-the-art center that enhances the capacity of UAPB to host track and field events, local and regional competitions, and act as a key recruitment tool in attracting more students.

This facility will also provide opportunities for the current student body, local community and provide the ability to host special events such as the Special Olympics.

UAPB is reaching out to a select group of alumni and friends asking for help in raising $500,000 for the Phase I Roll-Out. They mentioned the plan includes state-of-the-art comprehensive project technologies, a high-performance rubberized track, stands, home and visiting team facilities, educational and wellness workspace, concessions, and a specialized turf soccer field.

The University added that they already secured more than $200,000 in contributions from alumni and friends. UAPB offers a commitment packet that allows donators to choose how much they would like to offer to the Track and Soccer Complex on their website https://uapbnews.wordpress.com/.
