The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff amongst other colleges and Universities across the state are back in session from spring break. On their first day back Monday, UAPB took the initiative to help reduce the spread of the virus by conducting a free COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic in the HPER Complex and Student COVID-19 Testing in the STEM Building from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

UAPB officials spoke with KATV and said testing students and allowing vaccination opportunities is critical to reducing the spread of the virus. Diane Williams the chairperson for the department of nursing said that nursing students hosted the mass testing clinic.

“To be aware that COVID is still a very real threat to our community, not just our community but a threat to our nation, and we just want to do our part,” Williams said.

According to Williams, more than 70 students were tested and the majority of the faculty and staff have received one of the three COVID vaccines. William said COVID tests are not mandatory for all students but it is encouraged.
