UAPB Football: Mark Evans II Signs Undrafted Free Agent Deal With The New Orleans Saints

Mark Evans II Free Agent

PINE BLUFF, ARKANSAS- “Oh when the Saints go marching in”. Former University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff offensive lineman Mark Evans II has signed an undrafted free-agent contract with the New Orleans Saints.

Evans is the second Golden Lion (NFL Pro Bowler Terron Armstead) and third with Pine Bluff ties to suit up for the Saints since NFL Hall of Fame (Willie Roaf and Armstead).

UAPBLionsroar.com announced the news via social media on Saturday evening, a few hours after the NFL draft concluded.

“It’s an honor to play for an organization like the Saints, said Evans.” “It would have been great to hear your name called on the draft board, but it’s not how you start but it’s how you finish. To win the Willie Roaf award early in my career and having Armstead as mentor means a lot to me and I can’t wait to report to camp.”

The 6-foot-4, 295-St. Louis, MO. native, played 521 snaps: 93% overall grade, with only two sacks his senior year, has been compared to former UAPB/New Orleans Saints tackle Armstead, who started in 9 out of 11 games this season at the left tackle position for the Golden Lions.

Evans landed on the radar of several NFL scouts and is known for his run blocker, quickness, fundamentals, toughness, athletic ability, and footwork, per a scouting report from ESPN.
