UAPB Football Adds Five During Early Signing Period
Included in the class are four junior college early signees as well as one FBS transfer signee from the University of Missouri.
“I am very pleased with the members of this year’s early signing class in terms of how it adds depth and solidifies our program on both sides of the line of scrimmage,” Thomas said. “We added some talented student-athletes on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball as well as some immediate depth in the secondary.
Among the five student-athletes are defensive back Jaylon Thigpen (Southwest MS. Community College /Laurel, MS.), defensive back Martevious Washinton (Southwest MS. Community College/Collins, MS.), defensive back Solomon Brooks (Hinds Community College/Belzoni, MS.), defensive back Taylor Holston (Iowa Central/Cincinnati, OH.) and wide receiver Harry Ballard III (University of Missouri/St. Louis, MO.), a three-star prospect who committed with Missouri out of high school.
The student-athletes from this class will join the remainder of UAPB football’s incoming class, which is expected to be unveiled on Feb. 6.
“The staff did a terrific job in beginning to construct our 2019 signing class during the early period and we are very excited that today’s group will build the foundation of what we anticipate will be another tremendous group of student-athletes during the February singing period,” Thomas added. “We are very excited about the future of Golden Lion football and the talent we have coming into Pine Bluff this summer.”
