UAPB Baseball: Little and Greene Combine For Shutout In Golden Lions Victory Against Texas Southern

PINE BLUFF, Arkansas —Senior Brandon Little and senior Andre Greene combined to toss a shutout on Sunday as the UAPB Golden Lions blanked the Texas Southern Tigers 5-0 at the Torii Hunter Baseball Complex.

Little started and picked up the win for UAPB , going five shutout innings while giving up four hits, walking four, and striking out six. Greene was dealing out of the bullpen as well, going four shutout innings, allowing three hits, walking one and striking out five.

Junior Isiah Cohens led the way offensively for the Golden Lions, going 2-for-3 in the ballgame with a double, a walk and an RBI. Junior Micah Brown compiled a standout day at the dish as well, going 1-for-4 with two RBI. Senior JaKobi Jackson also chipped in, going 2-for-4 for UAPB with an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Golden Lions took the lead for good in the second, scoring for the first time in the inning. UAPB’s offense started clicking and put up four runs, including a two-run single off the bat of Brown.

The Golden Lions also added a run in the seventh inning to complete their scoring in the ballgame.

GAME NOTES

The Golden Lions will be back in action in non-conference play Tuesday, March 28 against University of Mississippi.  First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
