UAPB Baseball Falls to SFA

NACOGDOCHES, Texas –Karsten Vasquez collected three hits, but the UAPB Golden Lions fell to the SFA ‘Jacks 15-4 Wednesday.

Mike Gerwitz got the ball to start for UAPB and took the loss.

In addition to his three hits, Vasquez had an RBI to lead the Golden Lions. Aidan Martinez put together a standout effort as well, going 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Dylan Jutze also helped out for UAPB, putting together one hit in one trip to the plate while adding a double and two walks.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Golden Lions were trailing 2-0 in the second inning when they first put runs on the board. Freshman T Martin came across to score the lone run of the inning for UAPB and get them on the board.

The Golden Lions deficit expanded to 10-1 before their offense got back on the scoreboard, cutting into that deficit in the fifth inning. UAPB pushed two runs across on a two-run double off the bat of Martinez that brought home freshman L Noble and Vasquez, which tightened the ‘Jacks lead to 10-3.

SFA expanded their lead to 11-3 before the UAPB offense got going, reducing that lead to 11-4 in the sixth. The Golden Lions scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Vasquez. The Golden Lions were unable to get any closer, as SFA added four runs to their tally on the way to a 15-4 final.
