UAPB Baseball Drops Non Conference Match to SFA

PINE BLUFF, Arkansas —The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff baseball team dropped a non conference match to Stephen F Austin with a final score of 6-2 on Tuesday at the Torii Hunter Baseball Complex.

Sophomore Andrew Duran (0-2) got the ball to start for UAPB (0-5) and took the loss. The right-hander went two shutout innings on one hit, allowing no walks and striking out three. Sophomore Damon Elarton was a bright spot for the Golden Lions, coming out of the bullpen and throwing two scoreless innings, allowing one hit, with two walks and three strikeouts.

At the plate, the Golden Lions were paced by Junior Dylan Jutze, who went 1-for-3 on the day with a triple and a walk. Senior Kacy Higgins compiled a noteworthy effort as well, going 1-for-4 with a triple. Junior Braelin Hence also chipped in for UAPB, putting together one hit in two trips to the plate while adding an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Trailing 5-0, the Golden Lions first put runs on the board in the seventh inning. UAPB managed to push across two runs in the inning. The Golden Lions were unable to get any closer, as SFA added one run to their tally on the way to a 6-2 final.
