UAPB Athletics Announces Additions To Staff

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Department of Athletics announces three additions to the staff.

Temeka Samuels has been named Deputy Athletic Director/Chief Operating Officer, Keith McCluney Executive Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Operations, and Duane Lewis Senior Associate Athletic Director for Strategic Communications.

All three will be a part of the executive team of UAPB Athletic Director Melvin Hines, II.

Samuels will assist in the day-to-day management of Golden Lion Athletics while overseeing ticketing, gameday operations, and internal and business operations for the department. McCluney will oversee the implementation of the UAPB Annual Fund and focus on donor engagement and corporate sponsorships.   Lewis will oversee all communications, marketing, and promotions efforts, establishment of the Golden Lion Sports Network, and assist with corporate sponsorships.

“I’m excited to have Temeka, Keith, and Duane join our staff,” said Hines, who was named to his current post in September 2018. “They each bring a tremendous level of experience as well as diverse skill sets that will help elevate our program. They will be charged with helping us execute the new and exciting vision for Golden Lion Athletics.”

Samuels comes to UAPB after serving as Club Director at the Houston Boys and Girls Clubs overseeing youth programs. Samuels also was the Ticket Operations Manager for Kroenke Sports and Entertainment, overseeing operations for the Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer, and the Colorado Mammoth of the National Lacrosse League. Prior to KSE, Samuels worked in ticket operations with the Houston Rockets.

Samuels has also been the Assistant Athletic Director for Ticket Operations at the University of North Texas, Director of Athletic Ticketing and Donor Management at Southern Illinois, Assistant Director of Ticket Operations at Bradley, and ticketing assistant for the Saginaw Spirit of the Ontario Hockey League.

McCluney comes to Arkansas at Pine Bluff after serving as Associate Athletic Director for Development at Florida Athletic University. McCluney has also worked in a similar role at Middle Tennessee State, has been the Director of Regional Development at Wake Forest, Assistant Director of Development at Tennessee, Assistant Director of Annual Giving at Miami, and Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing and Promotions at North Carolina A&T.

Lewis joins UAPB after more than two years at Prairie View A&M as Assistant Athletic Director for Communications and Marketing. He has also served as Director of Sports Information at Alabama State, Assistant Commissioner for Communications at the Southwestern Athletic Conference, Director of Communications at the Allstate Sugar Bowl, and in various roles with the NFL’s St. Louis (now Los Angeles Rams) in communications, including Director of Football Media and Director of New Media.
