MONTICELLO, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello and the Department of Athletics will host a Green and White Football Scrimmage Wednesday, October 28 at 6:30 p.m. at Willis “Convoy” Leslie Cotton Boll Stadium.

This will be the first on-campus athletic event with spectators for the Weevils or Blossoms since the spring semester when NCAA Division II suspended athletic competition. Doors are scheduled to open at 5:45 p.m., and seating will be available on both the home and visitors’ stands and will be available on a first come, first serve basis. Seating will be limited to 1,000 guests. All traffic may enter from both the main entrance and the entrance located on the visitors’ side.

According to Dr. Peggy Doss, UAM chancellor, the scrimmage will be a welcome sight for members of both the campus and southeast Arkansas communities. “In the midst of a particularly challenging semester, our students, employees, alumni and fans are looking forward to a way to celebrate and connect with one another,” she said. “I’m thrilled we will be able to safely gather and unite in our Weevil pride.”

Every person in attendance will be required to adhere to the Arkansas Health Department guidelines for dealing with COVID-19. Guidelines are listed below:

  • Masks must be worn at all times.
  • All fans will have their temperatures checked before entering the stadium.
  • If you are experiencing shortness of breath, sore throat, or loss of taste or smell, please do not attend the event.
  • Anyone with a temperature of 100.4 or higher and/or acknowledging presence of COVID-19 symptoms will not be allowed entry.
  • If you are 65 years of age or older and have health conditions including high blood pressure, chronic lung disease, diabetes, severe obesity, asthma or a weakened immune system, we encourage you to not attend the event.
  • Guests will be asked to sit six feet away from those not in their household groups.

For fans in attendance, restrooms will be open near the Judy and Jack Lassiter Indoor Practice Facility and Steelman Field House. Parking will be available in front of the main entrance to the stadium and in front of Harris Hall and Steelman Field House. There will be no tailgating allowed prior to the game, and concessions will be closed during the event.

In terms of the contest, the teams will be split between offense and defense. The offensive bench will be on the home side and the defensive bench will be on the visitor’s side. There will be no live stats or live stream available for the event. Marching band and cheerleading will also be in attendance.

“We are very excited to be able to have this Green and White game. Our players have worked very hard even with knowing that no games were going to be played,” said UAM head football coach, Hud Jackson. “That alone tells you how dedicated they are to this program and this team. What our student-athletes and students have to deal with in this unique time is tough. So being able to do this for our student-athletes, students, UAM staff and our community will be a very positive thing! Wednesday night will be an awesome night!”
