Major League Baseball Identification Camp Held At UAPB
Major League Baseball held an identification camp for high school prospects at the Torii Hunter Baseball Complex at Bill Jones Field on Saturday.
The identification camp is an invitation only event in which the top baseball players in the region participate in an athletic assessment, performance vision screening, on-field wood bat batting practice inclusive of swing analysis, and an infield/outfield session.
“It’s good exposure for the kids in our area because it’s an underserved area as far as baseball is concerned,” said UAPB Head Baseball Coach Carlos James. “It gives them an opportunity to show their skill set and what they can do. It’s also good for our program and University to have them see UAPB. This is the first time we get to introduce ourselves to them at an early age, and by them seeing our facility, interacting with our staff, and seeing our campus, hopefully it plants a seed for them to want to become Golden Lions in the future.”
