White Hall Police arrested two people Monday on drug-related charges following a security check at a business.

Nicholas Rushing and Stephanie Billings were taken into custody at the Big Red Travel Plaza at 8110 Sheridan Road after a White Hall officer saw Rushing and knew there was an active warrant for his arrest.

Reading from a probable cause affidavit from White Hall Officer Clayton Cantrell, Deputy Prosecutor Caleb Conrad said the officer confirmed that the warrant was still active and that Rushing was on parole and had an active search waiver on file.

Billings gave a female White Hall officer permission to search her belongs and Conrad said the officer found a clear plastic container with a clear substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine and weighed 2.5 grams in Billings’ purse. The officer also found a clear glass pipe with a white residue that field-tested positive for methamphetamine in Billings’ back left jean pocket.

A $1,000 bond was set for both Billings and Rushing on probable cause of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Both said they would hire their own attorneys.
