Two people were killed and a third injured in separate traffic accidents in Pulaski County this weekend.

According to preliminary reports, 57-year-old Donald Proctor of Little Rock was killed after being ejected out the windshield of a 2004 Mustang that left the roadway on I-630 and struck two trees before catching on fire.

The driver of that vehicle, Jelani T. Proctor, 26, of North Little Rock was pulled from the vehicle and taken to a Little Rock hospital.

That accident was reported at 1:10 a.m. Saturday at the 7-mile marker of the interstate.

On Sunday, Peris Mbuthia, 30, of Benton died after the 2004 Acura he was driving west on at the 142 exit ramp of I-40 left the roadway to the north in a right-hand curve and hit a tree.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

That accident was reported at 2:37 a.m. and the two deaths bring to 458 the number of people killed on the state’s highways so far this year.
