Two Pine Bluff residents were killed in a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 530 Sunday night.

According to a preliminary report, a 2016 Dodge Charger driven by Kadazha Barnes, 22, was northbound at the Northeast Exit 44 when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle which then struck a concrete pillar before coming to rest facing southwest.

Barnes and a passenger, John L. White III, 21, were pronounced dead at the scene by Jefferson County Coroner April Davis at 1112 p.m.

The two deaths brought to 51 the number of people who have been killed on the state’s highways so far this year.

The accident was reported at 9:24 p.m. and according to the report, the weather was clear, and the roadway dry at the time.
