Kendrick Lamar is keeping fans on their toes ahead of his upcoming album, Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers.

In an “official statement” posted to his newly launched Oklama website last month, he revealed the album’s release date of Friday, May 13. Then on Tuesday, the “Humble” rapper shared a somewhat cryptic image of himself holding two CDs, one with the word “Morale” written in black marker, the other with the word “Steppers.” Also seen in the image is a book bearing the same title as the upcoming album.

Wednesday morning, Kendrick Lamar was a top trending topic on Twitter, with fans excitedly speculating that Kendrick’s forthcoming project is a double album.

“KENDRICK LAMAR IS DROPPING A DOUBLE ALBUM LIFE ISNT REAL,” one user tweeted.

“Kendrick Lamar is releasing a double album?? We’re eating good this month,” another said.

Another fan spoke to the history of artists who’ve released multiple albums at once, saying, “The double album is where legends are solidified. TupacBiggieOutKastUGK, etc. Kendrick Lamar throwing his name into that hat is the only name rn that makes sense.”

Kendrick’s new music update comes on the heels of early sales projections that show a huge Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers debut of 400,000-500,000 units sold in the first week, according to Hits Daily Double
